Down Convicts
In 1993, Noelene Williams from Sydney Australia, visited Down County Museum to see where her convict ancestor, Ann Morrison, began her journey to the Penal Colony. After meeting with Museum Curator Michael King, Noelene, over a period of 3 years, researched and compiled the following database of more than 1300 convicts who were tried in Co. Down or tried elsewhere but were native to County Down.
This database contains the details of the 1300 + convicts from County Down who were transported to New South Wales and Van Diemen's Land.
You can find out more about the transportees by using the search facilities below. Prisoners can be filtered by selecting the first initial of their surname or alternatively you can search the database using the search field.
