Training Kitchener’s New Army 1914-18: Perspectives on the Irish Experience. Ballykinler Camp

This lecture by Heather Montgomery will use historical landscape analysis and archaeological excavation as a case study at the current British Army Military training facility of Ballykinler, County Down. The talk will present, specific elements of the British Army training doctrine, employed across Ireland during the First World War. Heather Montgomery of Living Legacies Project, Queen’s University Belfast has recently completed an extensive study of Ballykinler Camp.  This event has been organised by the Friends of Down County Museum.  Pre-booking advisable, tickets available from the museum.
