Down County Museum - Open and free

Welcome to Down County Museum, where the rich heritage of County Down is brought to life in fascinating exhibitions, lively events, hands-on activities and award winning education programmes. Visitors can explore the history of the old Gaol, enjoy our permanent exhibitions and see one of our special, temporary exhibitions displaying objects from our varied collections.

The Museum's extension, containing three new permanent galleries and a brand new tearoom is now open. Make sure to pay us a visit and take a look around!

Opening hours

The Museum will open to the public from Wednesday 9th June 2021. Please check regularly for updates.

Wednesday to Saturday from 10.00am to 4.30pm

Admission free

Tours & Events: There is however a charge for some special events and for guided tours.
We have tours for groups starting at just £4 per person. Click on the brochures (left) for further details or give us a call.
